British singer/songwriter and passionate foodie Rich Keam has been crowned Western Australia’s Taste Master as part of the ‘Best Jobs in the World’ campaign. As WA’s official Taste Master, the 34-year-old will receive a $100,000 salary and expenses package to spend six months sampling the State’s finest local produce and enjoying the best bars, restaurants, wineries and micro-breweries.
Tourism Minister Kim Hames said the campaign was an important showcase for the State and had received 90,000 expressions of interest. Rich Keam, from Brighton, had been chosen after a week of challenges and assessments undertaken by the three finalists.
“Rich will make a great ambassador for WA. As the Taste Master he’ll be promoting our State to the world as an international food and wine and holiday destination,” Dr Hames said.
“We had three outstanding contenders but Rich Keam most impressed the judging panel with his personality and enthusiasm for WA – and importantly his ability to share his experiences here through social media.
Launched in March, The ‘Best Jobs in the World’ campaign is a collaboration between Tourism Australia, Tourism WA and five other State and Territory tourism organizations, and has already generated a huge amount of publicity for Australia and WA.
